About Joyful Beginnings Midwifery

Where it All Started

Tracey and Renée have had their own unique experiences with birth work, but there was a pivotal moment for Tracey in 2001 as she visited with a rural Kentucky woman who had recently lost a baby. Her child had been lost due to pre-eclampsia. She was in a situation where she did not feel good and did not want to go to town to see the doctor. Also, seeing the doctor would cost her extra money. She decided to wait until the following week when she had a regular appointment. However, it was already too late  by then. It grieved Tracey’s heart to think that if she had had a midwife who would come and see her for no extra charge, her child might have lived.  Tracey asked the Lord then that if it would be His will, He would allow her to serve in this way and in this place. Tracey and Renée both strongly trust in God's sovereignty, but at the same time they want to do everything they can to serve families well.Tracey has since had the blessing of helping that family with many beautiful grandchildren.

Meet the Midwives

Tracey Moore, CPM

Serving In Kentucky

After years of self-study and welcoming many of her own children, initially at a hospital, and then at home, Tracey began apprenticing and working with other midwives in early 2004. She had her first client as a primary midwife in 2005, and She has now been the primary care provider for over 800 births. She prefers to work in the area of natural, normal birth at home, not in “medical” situations.
Tracey's education and training have been primarily in the area of direct-entry midwifery in a home birth setting. She has had many years of self-study, periods of apprenticeship assisting in a home birth setting and a clinical internship in a free-standing birth center, all with direct-entry midwives. In addition, She pursues both voluntary and required continuing education every year. She has also occasionally worked in a hospital environment supporting birthing women. This has given her a valuable perspective on the use of medical assistance and intervention, and policies of some local hospitals. She is a  Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM). You can find out more about the CPM credential at www.mana.org. She is also a licensed midwife in the state of Kentucky (LCPM), and she is certified in both CPR for adults and children, and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP). She participates in peer review through a Kentucky midwives’ group, as well as with other groups of midwives from all over the US.

Renee Rojas, CPM

Serving In GEORGIA

Renée was born at home in Lake Arrowhead, California and is the third oldest of fourteen children. Her mother has been helping women during labor and birth for over forty years and, as a result, she was introduced to birth at a young age. She started out by attending her younger siblings’ births at home and going along with her mom to other births to care for her mom’s nursing baby. She then began to assist her as she got a little older and her interest in birth continued to grow.
Renée’s formal training began after she graduated from High School and she completed a self-study course, had experience volunteering in a hospital and clinic in Jerusalem and Bethlehem, ISRAEL, then trained as an apprentice with a few different midwives in Missouri and in Kentucky. Towards the end of 2012, Renée finished up her training in Kentucky with Tracey Moore, CPM, and was certified in the fall of 2013. She then stayed on to help Tracey so she could gain more experience and gradually take more responsibility as a primary midwife. Tracey and Renée partnered together in Kentucky for several years before Renée moved to Georgia to be with her family in 2018 and began taking clients there. At this point, Renée has attended over 500 births, over half of which she has acted as primary midwife. Tracey and Renée have continued to be a support to each other, and they frequently consult regarding their clients’ needs and share records and paperwork, as well as the business name.
